The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen [CUHK(SZ)] is a new, independent university established through a Memorandum of Understanding between The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Shenzhen University and the Shenzhen Municipal Government. The new University is a research-orientated, forward-thinking, non-profit- making University, which places emphasis on cross-disciplinary teaching and research. Post Specification

The applicant should have: a) a Bachelor degree, a higher degree and overseas higher education background would be advantageous; b) at least one-year relevant experience, preferably with tertiary institutions; c) excellent writing skills in both English and Chinese; d) Good command of MS Office, especially Excel and PPT;  and e) Ability and initiative to work independently when required.

Duties include: 1) Coordinate the students' scholarships and financial aid programs internally and externally; 2) Assist with the Students file management; 3) Deal with issues related to student Scholarships and financial aid, including but not limited to data analysis and reporting; 4) Undertake other assignments requested by the officer. Working during non-office hours may be needed.

Post Specification

Reporting to the Director (Marketing and Communications) of School of Management and Economics, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, the Executive Assistant is responsible for developing and implementing the School’s English communications strategies and executions for our various stakeholder audiences including local and overseas industry and governments, prospective local and international students, current students, parents, employers, current and prospective international partner schools, and alumni.

Specifically, the Executive Assistant will write and ensure that appropriate English is used in all messages in online communication and offline marketing materials. He/she will also provide copy writing and professional English editing services for research articles or cases from academic staff, written communication from administrative staff, and offer help/advice to students in English writing.

The applicant should have: a) a Bachelor degree, a higher degree and overseas higher education background would be advantageous; b) Working experience in English editing / copy writing / translation role; c) A tertiary qualification (preferably at post graduate level) in communications, translation, or English; d)Excellent written and spoken English; good in written and spoken Chinese; e) Strong relationship management, communication and presentation skills.

The preferred candidate will also possess strong collaboration skills with the ability to build effective interpersonal relationships with multiple stakeholders.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (“University”) is established in accordance with the Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Chinese-foreign Cooperation in Running Schools upon approval of the Ministry of Education. It inherits the educational philosophy and academic systems of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. It is intended to evolve into a world class research university with strong Chinese cultural influence. It is committed to nurturing high-end talents with global perspective, Chinese tradition and social responsibility.

At present, the University has programmes in science, engineering, economic management, and humanities and social science. Its long-term goal is to have 11,000 domestic and international students, 7,500 of whom will be undergraduate students and 3,500 Masters or PhD students.

The University hires first class teaching staff from around the world and those teachers that have been employed are mostly renowned professors and scholars from world class universities.

The School of Humanities and Social Science (HSS) has two important missions. First, HSS provides foundational education for all university students in multiple areas, including general education, English language competency, Chinese language competency, physical education and fitness, basic competency in instructional technology (IT) applications, etc. These areas lay the foundation for the comprehensive education that all CUHK-Shenzhen students receive.

Beyond the foundational education that HSS provides to all students, HSS intends to become a school of excellence in humanities and social sciences, and will start a series of new and interdisciplinary programs. We welcomes high caliber faculty from around the world to join us and establish a top-tier School of Humanities and Social Science in China.  

Positions and Qualifications

The applicant should have i) a Bachelor degree or above; (ii) at least 1 year relevant experience in design field; (iii) good command in both written and spoken English and Chinese; (iv) proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effect, etc. ; (v) good knowledge of digital photography equipment, software and lighting; (vi) responsible, self-motivated, creative idea, able to work over time, under pressure and meet deadlines; (vii) good communication skills, mature working attitude and careful with details, good team player.

Duties include (a) performing all kinds of promotional materials design including brochures, posters, newsletters, website, etc. for online and offline channels; (b) photo-shooting and video-shooting of different types of events; (c) assisting and participating the on-site work; (d) providing administrative, logistical, technical, and creative support to events; (e) any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

The appointee is expected to commence work in March 2018.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

Salary will be competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointments will be made under the establishment of CUHK(SZ) and statutory benefits will be provided according to the prevailing labour laws applicable in the PRC. The appointee will be based at the University campus in Shenzhen, PRC.
