At present, more than 3,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students are studying at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Its long term goal is to recruit 11,000 domestic and international students, 7,500 of whom will be undergraduate students and 3,500 Masters or PhD students.

Post Specification

Applicants should have (i) highly qualified researchers of all nationalities who received their Ph.D. (no more than three years prior to the start of the appointment, and applicants holding tenure or tenure-track faculty positions are not eligible to apply). (ii) The position is primarily open to data science-relevant disciplines, but it can be open to any discipline, as long as the fellow conducts research on contemporary China under the guidance of faculty at both Universities; (iii) The position is open to early-career scholars who would be in residence; (iv) a quality of the proposed research project and time plan, compelling demonstration of the anticipated synergy of the appointed postdoc, and the commitment of the respective hosts at both universities. The research proposal should include information on how the project will benefit from the research environments of both institutions (max. 10 pages in total, including tables/figures and references); (v) concise curriculum vitae (max. 4 pages in total); (vi) two recommendation letters (including one from the applicant's doctoral supervisor); (vii) an endorsement from a potential supervisor at each of the two universities; (viii) One writing sample (not to exceed 10MB).

Duties include (a) need to participate in the host organization's activities, including student-faculty seminars, workshops, and public lectures; (b) the fellow conducts research on contemporary China under the guidance of faculty at both Universities; (c) the first 12 consecutive months at CUHK-Shenzhen (with courtesy privileges at the Paul and Marcia Wythes Center on Contemporary China), and the next 12 consecutive months at Princeton University with a visiting appointment at CUHK-Shenzhen, with renewal after the first year contingent on satisfactory performance.

Salary & Benefits

For the stay at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen:

During their stay at CUHK-Shenzhen, Postdoctoral Fellows will receive a monthly stipend of 15,000 RMB plus an additional housing allowance of 3,500 RMB per month for self-organized accommodation. The fellows will further be eligible to apply for travel funding from external sources.  During the appointment at CUHK-Shenzhen, the postdoctoral researcher will hold a visiting appointment at Princeton.

For the stay at Princeton University:

For the 12 months in residence at Princeton, each fellow will be appointed at the rank of Postdoctoral Research Associate with a monthly salary of 5,000 (60,000/year) US dollars which will be provided by Princeton, including a one-time relocation allowance of up to 2,000 US dollars. Further, each fellow will be eligible to apply for travel funding, have access to resources at the Paul and Marcia Wythes Center on Contemporary China, and be eligible for employee benefits provided by Princeton.  During the appointment at Princeton, the postdoctoral researcher will hold a visiting appointment at CUHK-Shenzhen.

Tutor (MSc in Data Science) - SFI (Ref.2018/060/01)

SFI is a separate legal entity. The employment agreement will be signed between candidates and SFI, not with CUHK(SZ).

Partially funded by the Shenzhen municipal government, Shenzhen Finance Institute (‘SFI’) is an independent affiliate of CUHK(SZ) focusing on graduate and doctoral education and researches in the finance and economy related domains. Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor/Lecturer in Accounting (Ref.2018/054/01)

The School of Management and Economics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) is seeking application for four tenure-track faculty positions at all levels and one lecturer on non-tenure track starting in Fall of 2018. The successful candidates for tenure-track position should be excellent in producing high profile scholarly research and delivering creative and effective teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The non-tenure-tracked lecturer is not subject to research evaluation but is required to deliver high quality teaching at all levels.  The hired candidates are expected to do research and teaching in accounting areas.

Job Description 

The selected candidates for tenure-tracked develop their own research with the support provided by the university. They are subject to the tenure evaluation over a six-year period. Professional Consultant in Entrepreneurship - SME (Ref. 2018/043/01)

The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, School of Management and Economics is seeking applications for the position of Professional Consultant in Entrepreneurship. The individuals taking up this position will be responsible for course development, teaching, and providing student support and advising through The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen Center for Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship. Courses offered will relate to various stages of new venture development including: innovation, development and management of technology, development and management of new ventures, entrepreneurial marketing, entrepreneurial finance, social venturing, and practicum experiences. The individuals are also expected to take a proactive role in developing collaborations with local industry and government, and in developing international collaborations. Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Marketing (Ref.2018/039/01)

Post Specification

The School of Management and Economics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen invites applications for faculty positions in marketing at the Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor levels with prospect for tenure.

Junior applicants should have (i) a PhD degree (by the time of reporting duty) in marketing, preferably with strong training in new media and digital marketing or big data analysis and (ii) high potential in teaching and research.

Candidates for Associate and Full Professor posts are expected to have demonstrated academic leadership and strong commitment to the highest standard of excellence. Appointments will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially, leading to longer-term appointment or tenure later subject to mutual agreement. Exceptionally, appointment with tenure can be offered forthwith to candidates of proven ability.
