7 CUHK-Shenzhen Students Awarded Summer Programme Scholarships from Freie Universität Berlin
In March, seven undergraduate students from CUHK-Shenzhen were selected for the 2025 scholarship-funded summer programme offered by Freie Universität Berlin International Summer and Winter University (FUBiS). The scholarships cover tuition, travel expenses, accommodation, and insurance. Sponsored by the Ernst-Reuter-Gesellschaft e.V. since 2014, the programme awards scholarships to only 10 students worldwide per session.

The collaboration between CUHK-Shenzhen and Freie Universität Berlin commenced in February 2025, paved the way for CUHK-Shenzhen to become the first and only university in the Chinese mainland invited to participate in this scholarship programme. Previously, the scholarships were only available to students from FUBiS’s partner universities in Singapore and Hong Kong SAR, China.
The seven selected undergraduates are from SME and HSS, including two international students from SME. The programme will run from June 7 to July 19, 2025, offering courses on European political economy, European art history, German language and culture, and more. Students will combine classroom learning with field trips.
Founded in 1948, Freie Universität Berlin is globally renowned for its commitment to academic freedom and interdisciplinary research. In the 2025 QS World University Rankings, it ranked 97th globally and 4th in Germany, with particular strengths in the humanities, social sciences, and life sciences.
