Notification of Application for Guangdong Key-Area R&D Program of "Laser and Additive Manufacturing" (2026~2027)
The Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong province has initiated Key-Area R&D Program application of “Laser and Additive Manufacturing” (2026~2027). Details of application requirements are as follows:
1.Funding fields
This program includes 3 subjects with 11 sub-topics.

2.Funding amount and duration
The duration of the project is generally 3 years and the average funding intensity is 10 to 15 million yuan per project (please refer Annex 1-Guide for more details).
3.Procedure of application
Applicants shall fill out application forms in Chinese and upload necessary attachments (including technical and financial proposals, intellectual property documentation, cooperation agreement, letter of commitment for authenticity and recommendation (template can be downloaded from application system and need to be stamped by the university) and any other supplementary documents) online via the application system (http://pro.gdstc.gd.gov.cn/) by noon on Oct. 29, 2025, without submitting any paper copies.

4. Other requirements
A. Applicants are encouraged to conduct high-quality collaborative research with researchers from research institutes, enterprises and universities within and outside Guangdong Province. The number of collaborative institutions per project shall not exceed five while cooperation agreements（the agreement should include terms of division of labor, funding allocation for partners, ownership of intellectual property, etc.） shall be signed by the applicants and every collaborative institutions.
B. For the project led by the CUHK(SZ), self-raised funds in the total investment shall account for no less than 50% (the self-raised funds shall mainly funded by the enterprises participating in the application).
C. The content of the project must be authentic and credible, and the exaggerations of capabilities, technical and economic indicators is not allowed. Once the project is established, the assessment indicators such as technology, product, and economy cannot be modified or adjusted.
D. In principle, the same research team is only allowed to lead or participate in one project.
E. Eligibility of the Project Leader (PI):
(1) A PI must not have more than three ongoing provincial-level science and technology projects (excluding platform-based, universal policy, or posteriori subsidy projects).
(2) A PI must not have any provincial-level project that is overdue for completion by more than one year.
(3) A PI must not have any ongoing major provincial science and technology special project or key-area R&D program that has not yet passed final acceptance. (However, the PI may participate in a project team as a member.)
(4) The main content of the application must not have already received funding from any other provincial science and technology program.
(5) In principle, the same research team is only allowed to lead or participate in one application for this specific special project.
F. Research objectives shall obtain high-quality intellectual property and avoid setting project goals solely based on the quantity of patents or academic papers. Applicants shall elaborate on this part in the report and upload supporting documents to application system in line with the guide on high-quality intellectual property analysis and evaluation (please refer Annex 2) .
G. Applicants shall read the application guide (Annex 1-Guide) carefully for more specific requirements.
