The Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC has initiated application for the National Science and Technology Innovation 2030 -- Major program of " New generation of artificial intelligence" 2022. Details of application requirements are as follows:

1.  Funding fields

This program set 16 research tasks which focus on five directions(the fundamental theory of new generation of artificial intelligence, the deep combination of artificial intelligence and science, the common key technologies of new generation of artificial intelligence, the basic software and hardware support system of new generation of artificial intelligence, and the innovative application of new generation of artificial intelligence). Applicants shall login in the CUHK(SZ) Research Information System ( http://10.20.215.27/English/userAction!do_loginoff.action ), click “Document Sharing” - “Project Guide” to download the Guide.

2.  Funding amount and duration

The average funding intensity will be 20 million RMB per project for 3 to 5 years.

※ For the program of Young Scientist, will fund a maximum of 5 million RMB per project.

3.  Requirements

A. Applicants shall meet the following qualifications:

(1) Born on or after January 1, 1962;

(2) Have senior academic title or PhD degree;

(3) Shall not less than six months per year for researching.
※For the program of Young Scientist：male applicants should be younger than 38 (born after January 1, 1984), female applicants should be younger than 40(born after January 1, 1982).

B. Shall conduct collaborative research with researchers from research institutes, enterprises and universities within China and the deadline of registration date is June 30, 2021.

C. Agreements（the agreement should include terms of division of tasks, ownership of intellectual property, etc.）shall be signed by the applicants and the whole collaborative institutions;

D. Applicant shall only apply for one project concurrently;

E. The total number of the national programs(except for NSFC programs) a researcher applies for (including as applicant and main participant) and undertakes (including as applicant and main participant) shall not exceed 2;

F. Shall upload employment proof for applicants from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and foreign countries;

G. Proposal shall be written in Chinese;

H. Applicants shall first read the application requirements(Annex 1)carefully for more specific requirements.

4.  Procedure of application

Online application

Applicants shall fill out pre-application forms and upload supplementary documents online via the application system ( http://service.most.gov.cn ) on or after Sep. 10, 2022.

※ For applicants who have no login ID, please send your name, gender, date of birth, academic title, email address, telephone number, office phone, ID type, ID number to kevingao@cuhk.edu.cn by Sep. 10, 2022 to open account.

Paperless submission

In the stage of submission, applicants shall only submit online application, without submitting any hard copies.

5.  Deadline

Applicants shall submit pre-application forms online by noon on Sep. 28, 2022.
