Description

This course introduces the basics of electrical power system. Students will learn the basic knowledge of power system modelling, operation and its economics. The key topics include: three phase systems, power system components, per unit quantities, power system modelling, power flow models and solution algorithms, optimal power flow and solution algorithms, economic and secure operation of power systems, fundamentals of electricity market, and introduction to smart grid. This course provides a foundation to further study in power engineering topics.
