Description

English 2001A is a special course for international students (native or near-native English speakers) who need an academic writing class but do not require intensive grammar, listening, reading, and speaking instruction. The goal is to prepare students as writers for their academic career. This includes such skills as critical thinking, precise and logical articulation, and an understanding of style, organization, and research methodology. To accomplish this, students will write and revise three essays. We will also read and consider sample essays to (a) better understand how the authors accomplished their goals as writers and (b) to practice critical thinking and analysis of the selected readings for the purpose of applying these skills in our writing.
