Description

ENG3002 aims at developing students’ practical writing skills in educational and workplace settings. Students will learn to write professional emails, resumes, applications for internships, business reports, and abstracts for scholarly papers. The course is intended to be student-centered, but with the assistance of the instructor. In this course, students will be expected to gather information from a variety of resources (e.g., interviews, guest speakers, and journal articles) for various writing tasks. They are also expected to figure out the correct formatting, content, and structure of different genres through reading writing samples and discussions, rather than relying on the instructor for “answers”. Through learning by doing, students will develop useful skills in writing common genres of professional communication.
