Description

The focus of this course is to teach culture and facilitate German language acquisition through listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students will interact with authentic language in context. Content focuses on “survival” needs of the immediate environment in order to express personal meaning and to apply different strategies and techniques to engage in casual conversation. Students begin to develop an awareness of cultural norms, values, and culturally relevant appropriate customs and events. Accuracy is limited to simple structures with basic vocabulary. Students will demonstrate the ability to think critically by analyzing linguistic structures as well as by reflecting on and making cross-cultural comparisons.
