Student Exchange Program for Visiting Students
1.1 Application
Deadline: Nomination deadline for Fall Semester/Full Year: 1st May
Nomination deadline for Spring Semester: 15th September
The nomination list of partner universities should be sent to Office of Academic Links oal@cuhk.edu.cn before the application deadline.
1.2 Admission Requirements
Admission to study at CUHK(SZ) is open to students of any nationality with sufficient command of English. The entry requirements for undergraduate exchange students are:
- Completed at least two academic terms of university studies;
- A minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (B average or better), although applications with a slightly lower GPA will be carefully assessed. (Applicants from institutions not using the GPA system will be judged on their overall academic performance.)
- If students are from institutions where English is not the primary language of instruction, students should have a minimum TOEFL score of 530 (paper-based) / 197 (computer-based) / 71 (internet-based) or IELTS 6 or equivalent.
1.3 Courses & Credits
CUHK(SZ) uses the credit unit system. Courses are generally worth 3 units/credits each. Most of the three unit courses are composed of 3 hours of lecture and 1 hour of tutorial per week. Criteria of assessment may include any one or a combination of the following: attendance, class work, written work, laboratory work, field work, research papers, tests, examinations, and any other assessment.
Students can consult their home institutions to ascertain whether credits earned at CUHK(SZ) can be transferred, and follow the relevant application procedures.
Study Load at CUHK(SZ):
Minimum: 9 units per term
Maximum: 18 units per term
1.4 Accommodation
All incoming exchange students are guaranteed on-campus accommodation at CUHK(SZ). Building on the tradition of CUHK, the colleges of CUHK(SZ) are congenial communities with their own hostels and facilities. Each student will be affiliated with one of the colleges.
Room type: Twin room, shared bathroom.
Price: CNY 2,400 per student per year
CNY 1,200 per student per semester
1.5 Health Insurance
International exchange students are required to purchase insurance. Students must purchase your own global medical insurance and personal accident injury insurance before come to study in China.
1.6 DIRECTIONS TO CUHK(SZ)
Students/visitors from Shenzhen Airport to CUHK (SZ) are suggested to take a taxi or Airport Express.
By taxi: It takes about 1 hour (about CNY200).
By Airport Express, 330B: It takes about 1.5 hours (about CNY 30). The nearest metro station is Dayun at Longgang Line. Transfer to B852 at the bus station of Dayun, get off at the station of Institute of Information Technology beside CUHK(SZ).
