Professor Xu Yangsheng is Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He obtained his PhD degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He worked at Carnegie Mellon University (USA) for years and joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong subsequently. In August of 2013, Professor Xu was appointed the first President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen after a global selection process.
Professor Xu's research includes robotics and artificial intelligence. He has been interested in space robotics, service robotics, robot language, wearable interface, intelligent vehicles and self-learning systems. He has published 6 books, and over 300 papers in international journals in these areas. He is Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, International Member of the US National Academy of Engineering, Fellow of EU Academy of Sciences, Fellow of International Academy of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Academician of International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, and Fellow of Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences. In 14 November 2016, a main-belt asteroid was named 59425 Xu-Yangsheng in recognition of his contributions.

Professor Zhi-Quan (Tom) Luo received his BSc degree in Applied Mathematics from Peking University, China, in 1984. In the same year, he was selected by a joint AMS-SIAM committee and the Ministry of Education of China for graduate study in the United States (S.S. Chern Program). Following a 12-month intensive training in English and Mathematics, he enrolled in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he received his PhD degree in Operations Research in 1989. From 1989 to 2003, he was on the faculty in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, McMaster University, Canada where he eventually served as the department head and was awarded a Canada Research Chair (Tier I) in Information Processing. From 2003 to 2014, Professor Luo served as a full professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Minnesota and held ADC Chair in digital technology. Currently, Professor Luo serves as the Vice President (Academic) of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and concurrently the Director of Shenzhen Research Institute of Big Data and also the Director of CUHK(SZ)-Tencent AI Lab Joint Laboratory on Machine Intelligence.
Professor Luo received the 2010 Farkas Prize from the INFORMS Optimization Society for outstanding contributions to the field of optimization. In 2018, he was awarded the prize of Paul Y. Tseng Memorial Lectureship in Continuous Optimization. He also received three Best Paper Awards from the IEEE Signal Processing Society in 2004, 2009 and 2011 respectively, and a 2011 Best Paper Award from the EURASIP. Professor Luo is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM). In 2014, he was elected to the Royal Society of Canada, the highest honor a Canadian scholar can achieve in the Arts, Humanities and Sciences. In 2021, He has been appointed as a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).
Professor Luo’s research mainly addresses mathematical issues in information sciences, with particular focus on the design, analysis and applications of optimization algorithms. Professor Luo consults regularly with industry on topics related to signal processing and digital communication. Professor Luo was the semi-plenary speaker for the International Symposium on Mathematical Programming in 2003 and IEEE CDC conference in 2011, the distinguished lecturer for the IEEE Sensor Array and Multichannel Signal Processing Workshop in 2006, the plenary speaker for the IEEE Signal Processing Advance for Wireless Communications (SPAWC) Workshop in 2013, and IEEE Signal Processing Theory and Methods Workshop in 2014. Professor Luo has served as Chair of the IEEE Signal Processing Society Technical Committee on Signal Processing for Communications (SPCOM). He was Editor in Chief for IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing from 2012 to 2014 and served as the Associate Editor for many internationally recognized journals, including Mathematics of Operations Research, Management Science, Mathematical Programming and others.

Professor Zhu received B.Eng. degree from Zhejiang University in 1982 and PhD degree from McMaster University in 1991. He joined Department of Chemical Engineering and Department of Materials Science and Engineering at McMaster University in 1994 as a faculty member. He served as Department Chair for Chemical Engineering from 2009 to 2014. He was bestowed the highest honor of “Distinguished University Professor” at McMaster University in 2015. Professor Zhu joined the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen in 2017. He is currently serving as Vice President for external and student affairs and Founding President for Shenzhen Institute for Advanced Polymer Materials.
Professor Zhu has long term devoted to teaching and research in the area of polymer chemical engineering, specializing polymer reaction engineering. He has made significant original contributions to metallocene solution polymerization of olefins, controlled radical polymerization, high-end polymer product development, polymerization kinetic modelling and industrial process digitalization, as well as smart polymer innovation. He has trained about 150 higher degree personnel, published 400 technical papers, received 18,000 citations with H index 77.
Professor Zhu was elected as Fellow of Chemical Institute of Canada in 2009, Canadian Academy of Engineering in 2010, Engineering Institute of Canada in 2011, Royal Society of Canada in 2014 and The World Academy of Sciences in 2020. He received the CIC’s Macromolecular Science and Engineering Award in 2011 and the CSChE’s premier award, R.S. Jane Memorial Award, in 2016.

Mr. KC Yuen graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a BSSc degree in Sociology in 1975. He received a Diploma in Management Studies from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1979. In 1982, he attended the Higher Education Administrators’ Programme at the University of Manchester, UK. He joined the Personnel Office of CUHK in 1982 and became the Acting Director of the Office in 2012. With over 30 years of experience in public administration, Mr. Yuen has been an active member of several major committees at CUHK and played an important role in University management before his appointment as Vice President (Administration) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen.

Professor Tony LI, Associate Vice President of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), is also Director of the Research Administration Office. He graduated from Tianjin University with a Doctoral degree in Engineering. He started teaching at Shenzhen University in 1991, and he was a visiting scholar at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from 2002 to 2003. His overseas study and work experiences include an English training program at Brunel University of the United Kingdom. Before joining CUHK-Shenzhen, he had been Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Shenzhen University as well as Director of Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Sensor Technology, and Director of Shenzhen Optical Sensor Network Engineering Laboratory. As a professor of Physical Electronics, Prof. LI has long been engaged in the study of fiber optic sensors and nonlinear optics. He was honored as one among the first Outstanding Scholars of Shenzhen University. He is a member of the editorial board of Sensors and Actuators and an analyst for Optics Letters and other journals. He is also a representative of the Municipal People's Congress and a member of the Shenzhen Association for Science and Technology. He has published more than 100 papers in different well-known international journals, including Optics Express, Applied Physics B, Applied Optics, and IEEE Sensors Journal. He holds more than 20 authorized patents. As a project director, he has undertaken over 20 projects, including the National Science Fund of China, Guangdong Province Natural Science Fund Project, the Research Fund for the Doctoral Program of Higher Education of Ministry of Education, the Province-Ministry Industry-University-Institute Cooperation Project of Guangdong Province, the Shenzhen Science and Technology Project, the Shenzhen Nanshan District Science and Technology Project, the High-level Talents Project of Guangdong Province.

Professor Cai received his PhD from Tsinghua University in 1988. After conducting postdoctoral researches at the University of Cambridge and the Queen's University of Belfast, UK, from 1989 to 1991, he was appointed as Lecturer in Applied Mathematics at the University of Western Australia during 1991-1993. He joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 1993, holding academic positions of Lecturer (1993-1996), Senior Lecturer (1996-2000), and full Professor (2000-2014), at the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management (SEEM). He served as Chairman of SEEM during 1996-2003, Head of Graduate Division of SEEM during 2009-2012, and founding Dean of General Education of Lee Woo Sing College during 2010-2014. He joined CUHK-Shenzhen in 2014 as Dean of the School of Science and Engineering (2014-17), and has been appointed as Associate Vice President since 2016, and Presidential Chair Professor since 2018. Professor Cai’s research interests are mainly in industrial and systems engineering, operations research, and logistics and supply chain management science. He has published over 300 papers in academic journals, books, and conferences, including more than 100 papers in leading journals, such as Operations Research, Management Science, SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, Naval Research Logistics, Production and Operations Management, IIE Transactions, IEEE Transactions, Transportation Science, and Transportation Research. He was the chair/co-chair for several international conferences, and a member of the organizing committee/program committee/advisory committee for numerous international conferences. He has been an editor/associate editor/editorial board member of several academic journals. Professor Cai is a recipient of the Outstanding Young Scientist award (overseas category) from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the IEOM Award of Outstanding Professor in Logistics and Supply Chain. He is Academician of the International Academy for Systems and Cybernetic Sciences, Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers, and Fellow of Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA).

Professor Wang Cong is currently Associate Vice President (Student Affairs), a presidential chair professor and master of Shaw College at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He received his Ph.D. in Finance from Vanderbilt University in 2007. He obtained his Master degree in Economics from Nanyang Technological University in 2002 and Bachelor degree from Guanghua School of Management of Peking University in 1999. Before joining CUHK-Shenzhen, Prof. Wang was a professor of finance at China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). Prior to that, he served as an associate professor (with tenure) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Prof Wang is an expert in mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and executive compensation. He has published papers in globally leading finance and accounting journals such as Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis and Management Science. His two papers published in Journal of Finance in 2007 and 2009 were ranked in the annual top ten mostly-cited articles. Another paper won the Emerald Excellence Award of citation in 2015. He had offered courses at CEIBS for MBA, EMBA, Finance MBA and executive programs and was one of the most popular professors. Prof Wang was interviewed and quoted by several well-known media outlets, including Phoenix TV, China Business Network, CCTV, China Daily, Sina Finance, Wall Street Journal and Forbes.

Prof. Jianwei Huang received his Ph.D. from Northwestern University (USA) in 2005 and worked as a Postdoc Research Associate at Princeton University (USA) from 2005-2007. He joined the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2007 and became a full Professor in 2017. Then he joined the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, in 2019, where he is now a Presidential Chair Professor and Associate Vice President (Institutional Development). He is also the Associate Director of the Shenzhen Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Society (AIRS) and the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering. He has been an IEEE Fellow, an AAAI Fellow, a National-Level Talent, a Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE Communications Society, a Web of Science Highly Cited Researcher in Computer Science, and an Elsevier China Highly Cited Researcher.
Prof. Huang’s research interests lie in the nexus of network optimization, network economics, and crowd intelligence. He has published 320+ papers in leading international journals and conferences, with a total Google Scholar citation of 15000+ and an H-index of 62. He has received 11 international Best Paper Awards, including the 2011 IEEE Marconi Paper Award for Wireless Communications.
Prof. Huang is a member of the IEEE Koji Kobayashi Award for Computer and Communication. He served as the Associate Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society, the Chair of the IEEE Communications Society Technical Committee on Cognitive Networks, and the Technical Committee on Multimedia Communications. He received the 2015 IEEE Communications Society Committee on Multimedia Communications Distinguished Service Award and the 2010 IEEE GLBOECOM Outstanding Service Award.

Mr. LU Guoshi obtained Master of Public Management from Sun Yat-sen University in 2013, and Bachelor of Administrative Management from Sichuan University in 2004.
Mr. LU joined CUHK-Shenzhen in 2019. With more than 20 years of experience in public administration, he has been an active member of several major committees at the University and played an important role in administrative management. Currently he also serves as a board member at the Chinese Society of Technology Economics.
